Below can be found details of the   men who gave their lives in World War One who attended the Southfield Methodist Chapel. Dedicated and unveiled by Reverends E Barret and Geoffrey Tucker on Saturday April 23rd 1921 at 18.30 Hrs.

ALLEN Cyril Gunner 128068 D Battery 68th Brigade Royal Field Artillery KIA 02/10/1918 Aged 24. Born 1894 Armley. Son of James and Sarah Ann Richardson Married Kirton Lyndsey 1881. Residence 1911, 37 Middle Cross Street Armley Occupation Drapers Assistant. Enlisted Leeds. Cyril's Sister Edith Married Wilfred Stanton who died at Home he lays at rest in Armley Cemetery he is also remembered on this War Memorial. Laid to Rest Cerisy-Gailly Military Cemetery Somme France. ARMIN Stanley Geldard Private T/R 6/14683 52nd Bn Notts and Derby Regiment DIED at Home 10/11/1917 Aged 19. Born Armley 1898. Son of Tom and Ada Geldard Married 1892 Knaresborough CWGC 10 Middle Cross Street Armley. Laid to Rest Armley Cemetery.

BROOK Herbert Private 34365 8th Bn York and Lancaster Regiment KIA 07/06/1917 Aged . Born Leeds. Son of William and Mary Jane of 12 Southfield View Armley. Enlisted Bradford 16/04/1909 into the 2nd Bn West Yorkshire Regiment 9112 serving in Rawal Pindi India and Malta, when war broke out was part of the original British Expeditionary Force. Herbert landed in France 05/11/1914 and suffered from Frost Bite and was sent home not returning to France until September 1915. Herbert was sent back to France then to the Mediterranean before returning to Belgium. In 1918 his personal effects were sent to his mother at 48 Havelock Street Wellington Road New Wortley. Laid to Rest Bedford House Cemetery Belgium. (Also Remembered Armley war Memorial Gotts Park)

CARTER William Cuthbertson Private 41806 10th Bn King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry DOW 25/10/1917 Aged 28. Born Leeds 1889. Son of Richard and Mary Ann Cuthbertson Married St Matthew Little London Leeds 1883. Husband of Emily Howitt Married 1913 St Bartholomew Armley CWGC 4 Southfield Place Tong Road Armley. Emily Remarried in 1923 to Percy C Barber at Holy Trinity Armley Hall. Laid to Rest Etaples Military Cemetery France. (Also Remembered Armley war Memorial Gotts Park)
