Burley Methodist Church Cardigan Lane 

Burley Methodist Church Cardigan Lane was opened in 1898 and closed in 2012. In total 25 Men are remembered on the memorial. The following photographs are reproduced by kind permission of My Methodist History a website dedicated to sharing the family history of the Methodist Church. BLAND George Serjeant 403105 1/2nd West Riding Field Ambulance R.A.M.C. KIA 09/10/1917 Aged 26. Distinguished Conduct Medal. Son of William Whitelock and Lillian Newby Married 1884 Scarborough CWGC 18 Hessle View. 1911 10 Ashville Terrace Kirkstall. Laid to Rest Oxford Road Cemetery Belgium.

COLLINSON Ernest Clerk 3rd Class 209th Training Depot School Died 09/11/1918 Aged 27. Born Morley 1891. Son of John George and Mary Residence CWGC/1911 15 Wetherby Grove Burley Occupation Printing Compositor. Laid to Rest Haslar Royal Naval Cemetery.

DARBYSHIRE Harry Private 35129 4th Bn Yorkshire Regiment KIA 12/04/1918 Aged 18. Born Ripon. Son of Tom and Ellen Fryer Married 1897 CWGC 45 Chestnut Avenue Hyde Park.

ROUNDELL Arthur Rifleman 2292 1/8th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 09/05/1915 Aged 16. Born Burley. Son of  Benjamin and Step Mother Gertrude Worrall Married 1901 St Mathias Burley. Landed France 16/04/1915. Arthur was the youngest boy from Leeds in the British Army to be Killed in Action.
