 ST EDMONDS ANGLICAN CHURCH ROUNDHAY

St Edmonds Anglican Church was built around 1905. The War Memorial was dedicated and unveiled at 15.30 Hrs on Saturday April the 3rd 1921 by Lieutenant Colonel Bousfield and the Archdeacon of Richmond local ex servicemen were requested to attend in uniform. The memorial Remembers 36 men from the parish who gave their lives in World War One.

The Memorial depicts men walking off to battle.

A popular theme for churches when remembering men on either stain glass windows or images on memorials was to place show the likeness of their family member who gave their lives. It is highly possible that the soldiers above are a true likeness to some of the men remembered on the memorial.
