HARGRAVE Ernest Born Horsforth Son of Robert Walker and Clara Enlisted Leeds 25/05/1916 Residence 5 Morris Grove Kirkstall Occupation Clothiers Assistant. Recieved injuries 31/07/1917 Died at Craigleath Military Hospital Edinburgh the Medical report by Lieutenant David Wallace stated the following : Gun Shot Wound in right thigh, lower abdomin and Right Temple. The head wound was very sceptic and pus was building up so it was decided to operate. This was done on 06/09/1916 and fragments of bone were removed exposing the base of the brain, although no brain matter came away with the discharge. A small pocket of pus was remeoved and antiseptic used was chloryde and ethyl. On awakening Ernest complained of having a severe headache, this pain grew steadily worse and he died 20 hours later. Probably it was meningitis with thrombosis no autopsy was carried out.  Laid to Rest St Stephens Kirkstall. Remembered Kirkstall War Memorial as is his  Brother Horace.

Horace was origanily laid to rest in a trench grave at Sapignies German Cemetery and was reburied along with the other 10 men he laid next to. Laid to Rest Douchy-les-Ayette British Cemetery France.

Enlisted into RFC 3rd Airman 76724 gaining his commission 08/08/1917. Originally laid to rest in trench grave by the Germans. He was identified by the position of the crosses and he was between four other men there were no other means of identification. Finally Laid to Rest 1921 Rue-Petillon Military Cemetery Fleurbaix France.

WHITELEY Leonard Ratcliffe Lance Corporal 15/975 15th Bn West Yorkshire Regiment KIA 01/07/1916 Aged 23. Son of Edward and Julia Frances Ratcliffe Married 1872 St George Leeds. Husband of Phyllis K Davy Married 1915 St Matthew Chapel Allerton. Leonard was laid to rest in a trench grave in Longueval 57d k29 c.7.0 he was identified by his Tags and a watch he was wearing in 1921 Leonard was finally Laid to Rest Thistle Dump Cemetery France.
